Useful Gadgets to Make Your Travels the BEST.

If international travel is in your future, here are 5 gadgets and tips we are using right now that we have found very helpful as we travel the world:

1.      Your Cell Phone is a valuable travel tool:

a.      Emergency help - Put the country’s emergency number in your cell before you leave home.  In Italy, for example, the emergency number is 112. They have English speaking operators to help you.

b.      Remember where you parked or your meeting spot. Take a picture of your hotel room number, parking spot, meet up spot, restaurant sign so you can remember it.

c.       Google Translate and the camera translator on our phones have helped us read menus and make sure we were buying toothpaste and not hemorrhoid crème at the local Italian pharmacy!

d.      Flashlight. Make sure you know how to use the flashlight on your phone BEFORE you need it. Local streets are often not well lit, nor are European hotel hallways.

e.      Local Taxi app and ride share app- download the local taxi cab app (and phone number if listed) so you have them to use in country.

f.        Maps- download Google Maps of the area you are visiting and save. Then, even if you don’t have internet access, you have a map to use.

2.      Travel Adaptor- we have one that is good for the UK, EU, Australia and New Zealand. It works great with my travel curling iron and our laptops and cell phones.

3.      Universal Voltage Converter- in the US we use 120 voltages but, in the EU, they use 230-400. Comes with 3 US plugs and 4 USB plugs so you can power several devices at the same time. (Note: I know that many cruise lines have verbiage that tell you not to bring these but, to date, only Disney Cruise line ever took ours away. Thankfully, they gave it back after the cruise. But then again, that’s Disney.)

4.      International curling iron/straightener- for those of us who curl or straighten our hair. I bought mine on Amazon and it is the correct voltage for Europe. The best ones are a bit smaller than regular curling irons/straighteners and come in a travel bag that’s heat resistant so you can set it down when using without burning the countertop.

5.      Luggage strap- for those times when you have 2 or more pieces of luggage that you need to wrangle through airports or hotels. We got ours on Amazon but some come
